About SunLines

Good wind cruises since 1956

SunLines operates liner services from Kauppatori to Suomenlinna all year round with m/s Suokki and m/s Tor, and cruise and charter services with M/S Emma from May to September. Our expertise is based on many years of experience and professionalism in organising successful cruises.

Over the years, our business has evolved from a family business to its current form as a limited company and a group of two companies, Sun Lines Oy and Sun Ferry Oy. The two companies operate cruise, charter and liner services on the three vessels they own.

Even though the years have passed and the third generation has joined the company, one thing has remained the same: a heart-felt joy and a desire to create successful cruise experiences for our customers.

Quality, service and safe journeys by sea

SunLines is committed to quality in everything it does. We measure customer satisfaction and strive to support our customers' business by providing services that meet their individual needs. We strive for long-term customer relationships and strong staff skills. We operate in compliance with current government regulations, legislation and maritime regulations.

Certified expertise

Quality improvement is achieved through participation in quality systems such as ISO 9001 audited by Lloyd's Register, Traficom's Safety Management System and the Eco-compass environmental management system. These systems are continuously developed jointly by the company's management and the Group's staff. The Group's staff and management are aware of, understand and are committed to the existence of safety, quality and environmental systems.

LRQA-20 years

Finland's Strongest Platinum

The Finnish Strongest Platinum Certificate is awarded to a company with a Rating Alfa credit rating in the highest category for at least three consecutive years. The certificate is only awarded to the best of the best: around 9% of Finnish companies meet the certificate's strict criteria. The rating verifies a company's excellent financial ratios, positive background and good payment behaviour. A company that has earned the 'Finland's Strongest' certificate is a force for good in the Finnish economy, now and in the future. The certificate tells customers, partners, creditors and other stakeholders that cooperation with the company is sustainable. The certificate is based on Suomen Asiakastiedo's Rating Alfa credit rating. The certificate is issued by Suomen Asiakastieto Oy.

Finland's strongest

Sustainable Travel Finland

For the tourism industry to meet changing demand and secure its future, development must be sustainable. To this end, Visit Finland has developed the Sustainable Travel Finland programme for tourism businesses and regions and the Sustainable Travel Finland label.

1. WE WORK TOGETHER FAIRLY
We develop tourism in cooperation with other players in our region and in our sector. Together, we can better shape the future of society and tourism. We want our region to be a good place to live and visit now and in the future, so we make decisions that are sustainable for future generations. We will treat everyone with respect and fairness, and will only trade fairly and honestly.
2. WE TAKE CARE OF NATURE
We protect the environment, landscapes and biodiversity in our area. Our activities do not exceed the carrying capacity of nature, but contribute to safeguarding opportunities for a good life and a clean environment in our area. We also ensure the welfare and dignified treatment of our animals.
3. RESPECT CULTURAL HERITAGE
We cherish the cultural heritage of our region. Our aim is to present, revitalise, maintain and strengthen culture in a genuine and respectful way. We also understand that cultures have always evolved by interacting and learning from each other.
4. PROMOTE PROSPERITY, HUMAN RIGHTS AND EQUALITY
We treat our employees, our guests and the residents of our region with equality and respect, regardless of their background. We take people's specific needs into account in our activities. We train, guide and encourage our staff to act responsibly.
5. WE FAVOUR LOCAL
We support our region's products, services and businesses, and our aim is to employ local people. We favour food made from Finnish ingredients. We involve residents and businesses in matters that affect them.
6. WE FOCUS ON SAFETY AND QUALITY
We ensure the safety of local residents, our staff and our guests, as well as compliance with the law and government regulations. By developing our services and products with quality in mind, we create the conditions for the continuity of our own operations.
7. WE TAKE CLIMATE IMPACTS INTO ACCOUNT
We are making good choices for the climate and reducing our carbon footprint. We monitor the environmental impact of tourism, and through active measurement, we aim for more efficient use of energy and resources.
8. WE COMMUNICATE OPENLY
In our region, we are boldly communicating responsible tourism actions, future plans and visions. We want Finland's sustainable tourism to be known around the world. We openly share our successes, but also our challenges.
9. CONTINUOUSLY DEVELOP OUR BUSINESS
We are ready to renew our services and products to ensure that there is enough demand for them in the future. Sound finances and ethical business practices provide the basis for sustainable development.
10. WE ARE COMMITTED TO THE PRINCIPLES OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM
We will take an active role in promoting sustainable tourism and implementing these sustainable tourism principles. We will draw up an action plan for sustainable tourism, which we will follow in an increasingly systematic way in the future. We are committed to the measures and want to learn more in the future.

Sustainable Travel Finland

Environmental policy/Eco-passport

We aim to reduce our environmental impact by working closely with our stakeholders, especially local ones, by promoting a circular economy and by favouring products and services with a lower environmental impact. When purchasing equipment and machinery, we aim to take into account the potential of the manufacturing chain, the circular flow and new technologies to reduce environmental impacts. We are committed to continuous improvement, including in line with our Sustainable Development Action Plan.

Saving the Baltic Sea

We are part of the John Nurminen Foundation's Baltic Sea Rescue Team as a Business Godfather. We support the John Nurminen Foundation's efforts to save the Baltic Sea.

Eutrophication is one of the biggest threats to the Baltic Sea. Its most visible signs are blue-green algae blooms, water turbidity, siltation of the shores and the lack of oxygen on the bottom. At the same time, the Baltic's valuable cultural heritage is threatened with disappearance.

The John Nurminen Foundation combats these problems. Projects focus on concrete actions to address the root causes of eutrophication and reduce phosphorus loads. The Foundation's cultural activities, which focus on maritime history, have concentrated on the history of navigation, exploration and cartography.
